If you’re of a certain age, you may have grown up watching movies and TV shows in which robots were the main characters. Star Wars, Short Circuit, The Jetsons, and Small Wonder are just a few of the titles that featured robots. Little did we know then that these Hollywood creations would offer a glimpse into the not-so-distant future.

These days, having household robots is not all that uncommon. After all, those little robot vacuums have been on the market for years now.

But sucking up pet hair is just the tip of the iceberg for the new batch of home robots. If you’re curious about adding a mechanical companion to your home that gets things done and won’t be a wisecracker, here are some good ones to consider:

Gladwell Gecko Robot Window Cleaner

Let’s face it: Nobody likes cleaning windows. This is especially true if you have a lot of them or they’re very tall. With this handy little bot, you’ll never have to worry about this task again. Just attach Gladwell Gecko to the glass and it will do the rest. It uses suction to cling to glass, along with artificial intelligence to know exactly where the edges of your windows are.

Aibo

If you can’t (or don’t want to) have a real dog, Aibo is the next best thing! This robotic puppy used AI to get to know its environment, as well as the habits of you and your family. Aibo can recognize up to 100 different people and interpret facial expressions. Aibo likes to be petted, it can do tricks, and it will even return to its charging station on its own when it gets tired.

Miko 3

Dolls and actions figures are great, but in terms of interaction, they’re pretty much a one-way street. With Miko 3, your child or grandchild will have somebody to talk to that actually talks back. Miko is an AI-powered companion that will recognize them, use their name, and respond to their mood. It also speaks eight languages and will help them learn and keep them busy.

GRILLBOT

Do you love regularly firing up the grill to cook some burgers, ‘dogs, and maybe a T-bone or two? Barbecuing is great, but what’s not so great is the cleanup afterward. With the GRILLBOT, you won’t have to worry about digging out your scrappers to get that gunk off your grill, as this bot will take care of that for you! All you have to do is place the bot on the grill, press a button, and you’re done!

Astro

If you’re looking for a robot that can do a whole host of things, Astro is for you. First of all, thanks to its built-in camera and microphones, you will always know what’s going on in your home. This robot can learn your home’s layout and you can tell it to go to a specific room and it will obey. You can even get it to deliver things to specific people.

In addition to playing music and answering questions, Astro can also work as a security guard, patrolling your home and sending an alert if it encounters an unfamiliar person.

Will you get a home robot?

When you were a kid and saw a friendly robot in a movie, you probably wondered what it would be like to have one in real life. But now that you actually can, are you eager to get one? Do you already have one? Let us know if any of these bots strike your fancy in the comment section below and share this article with friends and family who are eager to see new innovations!

We have been talking about this for years and finally we have the opportunity to implement this type of technology into our home. We love the security, remote control and video access features. Can’t wait to try it out.
