It’s getting hot in here! So turn on the Vortec… obviously!

Although we’re heading into the winter months, this new fan offers a cool new take on how we prevent sweating during the hotter months.

And it’s all thanks to researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore).

They’ve designed a ceiling fan that’s able to cool down a small room (around 100 cubic meters) at TWICE the speed of a regular fan – all while using about half the energy.

How does it do that?

The “blade-free” fan, called Vortec, sucks in the cool air from underneath – then diverges the heat and moisture from people sitting below.

The design is also essential to how it functions. It looks like a UFO (but that’s not just for out of this world cooling).

The clever shape allows air to go outwards from the top of the “spinning vortex.” (Hence the name…)

This creates an air curtain that falls on those sitting below and helps cool down the room quickly.

But why is this fan special?

As you know, normal ceiling fans blow air downwards. Anyone who’s on either side of it won’t experience the cool air as much as those directly underneath it.

Vortec doesn’t have that issue because it allows air to be distributed so everyone can feel it.

It also doesn’t have exposed fan blades, which makes it safe to touch when spinning. It can even be mounted lower than a regular fan since it will distribute the air everywhere.

Temperatures will drop… and so will your electricity bill!

Not only does Vortec provide a sleek and comfortable cooling experience, it’s also been shown to reduce electricity consumption by HALF in just one month. That’s some huge savings!

Another feature is that it has an LED lamp in the center of the fan that provides light in different variations of white. That’s not all, though. Vortec also has an ultraviolet (UV) light source that helps kill bacteria and viruses… which is more important now than ever.

During the testing phase, the UV LED lights showed a 99.9% disinfection rate for COVID-19.
